In addition to pollute as little as possibile, we like involving our Customers in environmentally helpful initiatives which we can personally monitor.
Italy would more urgently need to clean woods, rather than reinforesting; in this way, we will ensure our ecosystem a better and stronger equilibrium.

WHERE IS OUR WOOD?
BEFORE AND AFTER
THE OBJECTIVES
The Appennino woodland management has been in serious trouble in the last 50 years. The post-war industrial development led to the abandonament of agriculture and of woodland, consequencely the wood trade has suffered from critical situations.
In Liguria, wood is used for production, but woodland is also essential to control the rain system and the biodiversity conservation. A sustainable woodland management is able to guarantee a better CO2 absorption.
In the last years, we have been experiencing new sustainable forest management to improve woodland conditions, to enhance the local woodland, to increase the ‘green’ shopping and the renewable energy market.
THE PROJECT
To give our contribution to the management and enhacement of Liguria woodland and to guarantee the CO2 absorption and to prevent the hydrological instability, we set our target on the thinning and improvement of the woodland by leaving:
- specific trees which are useful for wood production
- are berry trees and shrubs which are ideal for bird population or big trees which are ideal for bat nests, big insects (stag-beetle) and so on.
By acting in this way, the photosynthesis will improve and the woodland will get stronger, will have a better hydrological function and will guarantee wood and fruit production. In Liguria the woodland is preserved by EU regulations: the importance of habitat conservation is one of the interventions in favour of the biodiversity. By taking care of and improving the structure of the woodland, the habitat will become more efficient.
THE OPERATORS
The Consorzio Forestale Valli Stura e Orba will be in charge of the woodland intervention. This Association has been working in the environmental and forest management on public and private areas for 15 years. STAF (Studio Tecnico Agricolo Forestale) will be in charge of the technical intervention on the supervision and on the outcome checking. This Association has been operating in agroforestal sector of Liguria for 30 years, by planning and projecting the interventions for the environmental management in the Appennino.
